Cobram Estate, Australia’s most awarded Extra Virgin olive oil producer, has been recognized for the outstanding quality of its Extra Virgin olive oils against the world's best at the inaugural 2013 New York International Olive Oil Competition.
Cobram Estate’s freshly harvested 2013 Extra Virgin
olive oils received a total of two Best-in-Class trophies and four Gold Medals,
including winning Best-in-Class in the Medium single varietal category for the
limited release Ultra-Premium Hojiblanca (link esterno) and
Best-in-Class in the Robust single varietal category for the limited release
Ultra-Premium Picual (link esterno). Cobram
Estate Premiere and Cobram Estate Classic were also awarded gold medals.
The New York competition, held for the first time in
2013, assembled an international panel of leading experts to identify and
honour the very best Extra Virgin olive oils in the world.

Cobram Estate entered a total of four fresh, 2013 harvest olive oils, each of
which received a gold medal or better, and competed against more than 700 other
entries including some of the most prestigious brands from Italy, Spain and
California.
Cobram Estate’s Chief Oil Maker Leandro Ravetti is
thrilled with the result: “Winning four gold medals, including two Best in
Class, out of four entries in such a competitive event is exciting proof of the
outstanding quality and freshness of our oils” he said.
“It is not well known but fresher, higher quality
olive oils have greater health benefits. I am proud that high quality comes
naturally with Cobram Estate” Ravetti noted.
Olives are an annual crop and are ready for picking between late March and early June in Australia. Cobram Estate’s 2013 harvest olive oils are selected from the company’s 2.1 million trees spread over 14,000 acres of pristine farmland.
